The University of Tulsa has been named one of the nation’s most generous private universities for financial aid by Forbes. The magazine listed UTulsa in the 2025 edition of its annual Top Colleges ranking and went on to rank the university as No. 10 among the Top 25 schools that offer stand-out scholarship packages to first-time, full-time undergraduates.

The University of Tulsa is one of the few colleges on the list that’s classified as a private research institution.

To determine which schools are the most generous, Forbes looked at the percentage of students who received grant aid from their respective private universities. The magazine collected its data from the 2023-24 academic year, the latest made available by the U.S. Department of Education.

During the 2023-24 academic year, UTulsa enrolled 2,735 undergraduate students and maintained an average class size of 13 with a 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio. According to Forbes, all UTulsa students receive some financial aid. With the average scholarship worth $36,801, 55% of the annual $66,688 cost of attendance at UTulsa is covered.

“Forbes’ recognition of our affordability and generosity is a testament to our commitment to students and their families,” said Vice President and Dean of Admissions Patricia DeBolt. “The University of Tulsa is steadfast in its goal to provide a top-tier private education while creating access for deserving students.”

UTulsa is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 academic year. Find out more about what makes The University of Tulsa a great college choice at utulsa.edu/admissions.
